NC(V): Civil Engineering & Building Construction (L2 - L4)

This qualification allows the student to learn both the practical and theoretical content required to work in the building industry.

Admission Requirements

For admission into NC(V) programmes students must pass an NQF level 1 qualification in one of the following ways:

  • Grade 9
  • AET Level 4
  • General Education and Training Certificate (GETC)
  • the use of RPL assessment programme to determine equivalence to NQF Level 1, and
  • PLP results

In order to ensure success and completion of the programmes, the College has, in terms of this policy, and in line with A Guideline for Additional Admission Requirements to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College Programmes made provision for Programme-specific additional requirements as stipulated in the table below:

Duration

  • This qualification takes three years to complete.
  • Each of the levels 2, 3 and 4 will take one-year full time.
  • Every level of study carries 130 credits.

Career Opportunities

  • Depending on the trade selected, the student will either work as a plumber, carpenter or builder in the construction industry. He/She will participate in the erection, renovation and maintenance of buildings.
